Aprime Branding and Design

The challenge

Build a brand that signals serious technology work without feeling cold. Aprime needed an identity that read as a confident AI/ML company at first glance, and felt like one to work with up close.

Research and inspiration for Aprime branding

Research and approach

I started by studying the AI and ML space — competitor brands, the visual conventions of the category, and how customers actually talked about the companies they trusted. Most brands in the space leaned hard into one of two extremes: clinical and cold, or playful and toy-like. The opening for Aprime was the middle ground: serious, but a brand a person would want to talk to.

Initial requirements

Context

AI and machine learning company building web and mobile applications

Objectives

A brand identity, a website to launch with, and a motion language for marketing

Target audience

Technical buyers and product leaders evaluating AI/ML partners

Concept development

Before drawing a logo, I built moodboards to lock in the visual direction. The point was to align with stakeholders on tone — what kind of company Aprime was supposed to feel like — before any specific design choice could lead the conversation.

Branding identity & design

Design tokens and system approach

I built a small set of design tokens so the brand stayed consistent wherever it ended up: typography (DIN 2014 as the workhorse, Bebas Neue for display), a constrained palette of black, white, vivid pink, and deep purple, a 4px spacing base, and contrast rules for accessibility.

The impact

UI system

One system across surfaces

The same tokens carried through web, print, motion, and UI — so a banner ad, a pitch deck, and the product all looked like the same company.

Titles

A confident visual identity

The pink-and-purple-on-black palette gave Aprime a recognizable look at a glance — useful in an AI/ML category where most brands default to blue.

Easy to tell apart from peers

The category is full of near-identical tech brands. Aprime's identity is direct enough to stay memorable next to them.
